Job Description:

We are hiring a Shipping & Receiving / Field Service Technician Apprentice - Dental to join our Metro New York/New Jersey branch in Totowa, NJ.

This role is a designed as a path for the right candidate to grow from a Shipping & Receiving role into a Field Service Technician.

The ideal candidate for this role is:

  • Someone who is looking to use their warehouse skills as a bridge to a career as a medical equipment repair technician.
  • Has experience with shipping/receiving and delivery driving in the New York metro area.

50% of the time will be spent in a vital role of handling the day to day warehouse needs, including being responsible for the shipping and receiving.

50% of the time will be spent delivering products and receiving training as a service technician.


  • Determining parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests and using, maintaining, and securing test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate and repair equipment.
  • Receiving shipments, organizing warehouse, and delivering products to job sites.
  • Managing vehicle inventory and restocking as necessary.
  • Ensuring proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits are followed.
  • Repairing equipment to meet manufacturer s specifications as well as all company, OSHA or other agencies policies related to asepsis.
  • Providing technical support after initial installation of equipment, PC software and hardware and ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response time.
  • Other duties as related to the Service Technician I position.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment for shipment, including ensuring paperwork is complete
  • Using a forklift to move shipments to the appropriate place upon their arrival or departure
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
  • Deliver equipment to customer locations across the New York/New Jersey metro area


What background and experience is needed?

  • The ideal Service Technician I candidate will possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical training in the bio-medical or electronics field is preferred.
  • Must have experience driving a forklift.
  • A valid driver s license and clean driving record is required.
  • General computer proficiency, including knowledge of Windows-based programs and experience with peripherals such as printers, backups, scanners and modems is preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude with prior experience in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, heating, electricity, and/or electronics is also beneficial.
  • Competencies in the areas of customer service, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal and communication skills are desired.
  • Technical training in the bio-medical or electronics field is preferred.
  • Experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving.
  • Experience driving a forklift.

What physical capabilities are required?

You must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
